Ice Cream for the Sole

233Fourth of July week is finally here. Some folks are working but will still find time to enjoy some ice cream. Others are taking time off to test their luck at their favorite fishing hole.

While we all don't agree on when to take vacation or how to spend it, the special allure of fishing and ice cream has inspired Brigham's Ice Cream to team up with Charlie Moore (aka The Mad Fisherman) to make Mad Fish Mud with Caramel Bait.

Mad Fish Mud starts with Brigham's rich coffee ice cream, then is loaded with chocolate covered caramel cups for bait and streams of Brigham's fudge sauce. The flavor is part of Brigham's new pint line, available this summer at convenience stores throughout New England as well as at Brigham's non-mall restaurants.

But Brigham's new ice cream is no fishing expedition. Moore is donating all his proceeds from the sale of Mad Fish Mud to Children's Hospital Boston's AIDS (CHAP) and Boston HIV Adolescent Provider & Peer Education Network for Services (Boston HAPPENS) programs. Moore hopes to raise more than $50,000 for children with HIV/AIDS.

To give Moore a hand landing the big one for Children's Hospital, Brigham's is selling coupon sheets for half-priced ice cream. Through July 20, consumers can purchase a sheet of coupons for $5 and save up to $18 on 12 cones. The offer is good at participating Brigham's restaurants and 100 percent of the proceeds from the sale of the coupons also will be donated to Children's Hospital Boston.

A Mad Fisherman, chocolate covered caramel cups as bait, coffee ice cream and fudge for a muddy river. And it raises money for kids affected by AIDS/HIV? Hold the nuts. This is one fish story that is as delicious as it is true.
