Timberland Sticks Foot In Mouth, Tastes Good
Industry Week reports that NH-based Timberland Co. will add "nutritional labels" to product boxes that tell customers where the product was manufactured, how it was produced and its impact on the environment.
As part of the initiative the company also will package footwear in boxes made of 100% recycled fiber, use boxes that contain no chemical glues, use soy-based inks to print labels and print messages in the boxes that encourage consumers to be environmentally conscious.
Here in Boston, Timberland is well known for its visible support of City Year. If only other footwear companies were as good about walking the walk as Timberland is.
