Gifts for Mom
A woman who has spent more than three decades without her mother because of breast cancer has organized an event to help you honor yours and to support breast cancer care.
Carol Brownman Sneider runs Boston Bakes for Breast Cancer. Now through Mother's Day over 100 restaurants from Martha's Vineyard to Andover will add special desserts to their menus with all proceeds benefiting the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute.
Visit here for a mouth-watering preview of 23 desserts.
Mom loves sweets but lives out of state? Send her cakes, cookies, brownies and bars from Delectable Edibles. For every order placed, a contribution will be made to Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation. Owner Cristina Desmelik Wright hopes the support will help others like her son who has Type I Juvenile Diabetes.
Mom trying to kick the sweets? Buy her a Belkin Sport Amband so she can exercise with her iPod Nano. Belkin will donate $3 to Susan G. Komen for the Cure for every pink armband sold.
Mom loves baseball? Buy her the same pink bat that players in Major League Baseball will be using on Mother's Day, May 13th. For each bat sold, $10 will be donated to Susan G. Komen for the Cure.
Mom loves gifts from abroad? Join Today show host Matt Lauer, who visited Cape Horn, South Africa last Friday, and shop at Monkeybiz for gifts made from traditional African beadwork. The shop employs 450 local women for home-based work that allows them to earn money and to look after their families.
