Newsletter: Win a Selfish Giving Tee This Holiday Season πŸ™Œ ; In-Person Meetings are Back, But Prospects Prefer Virtual 🀝 ; 70 Sales Email Subject Lines That Get Opened πŸ“¬

Just a quick note this week wishing everyone a very happy holiday season. Whatever you celebrate this time of year, I am wishing you the very best in health and happiness for the season and for the New Year.

I am very thankful for all of you! I count you all as a Christmas miracle!

Just a heads up that I will NOT be publishing a newsletter next Wednesday, December 28th. I'll be back in your inbox on Wednesday, January 4, 2023.

Now, about that picture at the top. I haven't shared it in a few years. One of those precious kids is me circa 1972. The other is my really ugly identical twin brother, Jeff.

Talk about an awkward Christmas photo, right?

The question I always like to ask people is WHICH ONE IS ME??? Am I the one on the left or the right?? πŸ€”

I'm not even 100% certain!

However, I do have a strong opinion that I'm the one on the _______.

Also, I polled my family - including my 91-year old mother whose first response was "Uuummmmm" πŸ™„ - to see what they thought.

The majority have spoken, and I'm sticking with their pick as the official choice.

So, what's your pick? Am I the one on the right or the left?! Your pick matters because you could win a serious gift: A Selfish Giving tee! 🫒

Reply with your pick!

Three πŸ€πŸ€πŸ€ winners will be randomly selected from those that replied on Monday, December 26th. If you win, I'll drop you an email asking for your shirt size and mailing address.

🚨U.S. delivery only. Sorry international readers. Many but not all sizes available.

✍️ Partnership Notes

1. In-person meetings are back! But 86% of your leads want to be sold to virtually .

2. Good interview with the CMO of Brooks Running on what's happening at the intersection of running and marketing. Also discusses their work with Back On My Feet, a nonprofit that supports people experiencing homelessness.

Which running shoe companies are on your prospect list?

3. Every business can give back. NYC-based Dumbo Moving is a great example of that!

πŸ€‘ Marketing Your Cause

1. As many of you know, I resend my newsletter on Fridays to those people that didn't open my Wednesday newsletter. I think the strategy works well! But not everyone thinks you should resend your newsletter. What do you think?

2. A big problem in the nonprofit world are the subject lines they use in emails. They are just boring and horrible.😱 But how can this be when the subject line is the single most important part of any email you send???

Here's some inspiration to improve. 70 sales email subject lines that get opened, read, and responded to.

😎 Cool Jobs in Cause

1. Associate Director, Corporate Partnerships, American Association for Cancer Research , Philadelphia

2. Senior Director Corporate Development, National 4-H Council , Washington D.C. / Baltimore Area

🧠🍌 Brain Food

1. A powerful read: The movement that Sandy Hook built .

2. Tom's Blake Mycoskie donates $100 million to psychedelics non-profits. This could be bigger than crypto...wait...πŸ€”

3. Every December I finish the year with A Christmas Carol, one of my all-time favorite books! This year I'm listening to it on audiobook and actor Hugh Grant is the narrator. He's a very good reader and the book is free on Audible.

Dickens writes that "Old Marley was as dead as a doornail." It turns out that the phrase has an interesting history. Also, check out this theory  on who Marley was in real life!

Finally, always remember this.
