Patriots Lose. Cause Marketing Wins
Well, my Patriots lost. But seeing this cause marketing promotion involving Peyton Manning's charity and eight Nebraska businesses took out the sting.
According to this story on ESPN, eight Omaha businesses agreed to donate $800 each time Manning said the word "Omaha" at the line of scrimmage. During the AFC championship, Manning said "Omaha" 31 times during Sunday's game against the Patriots.
The Omaha business coalition, which includes Omaha Steaks, Mutual of Omaha and ConAgra Foods will donate $24,800 to Manning's Peyback Foundation.
It all started last week during the Broncos game with the Chargers when Manning barked "Omaha" 44 times. The Omaha business community smelled a great opportunity to promote the city!
I bet they will continue this promotion in the Superbowl!
The cool thing about this promotion is that it happened without any involvement from Peyton, his charity or the Denver Broncos organization. It was just some people who saw an opportunity and jumped on it!
What's your idea for working with your hometown sports team?
