Newsletter: Nonprofit Puts Partnership Case Studies to Good Use ✅ ; Bad & Tasteless Cause Marketing on 9/11 🤮 ; Nonprofit Storytelling Advice from the Creators of South Park ✍️
I recently finished writing a bunch of case studies for Penn State Health Children’s Hospital, a member of Children’s Miracle Network. I was happy how they came out, but what I was really impressed with is how the team at Penn State Health used them.
1. They gave the case studies their very own web page. Check it out here. A dedicated page will make it easy to share the case studies with potential partners. A web page will also be indexed on all the major search engines, which means it will be discoverable in search - an added bonus!
2. They included a link to 2022 partnership opportunities. This is a team that is already prepared for next year and ready to recruit new partners!
3. Each case study is colorful and includes lots of great images! Sure, my words are honey-sweet 🐝🍯 and dripping with persuasive appeal 😎, but pops of color and lots of great images from the campaigns make the case studies look so much more appealing! I ❤️ this one on Ace Hardware.
Nice work, Penn State Health! 🙌 🙌

✍️ Partnership Notes
1. You have to ask. You can't just take. No, really, you just can't take. This happened to me in NYC a few years back when a hotel tried to take advantage of an unsuspecting Red Sox fan! Shame!
2. Really bad and tasteless cause marketing.

🤑 Marketing Your Cause
1. Since the NCAA allowed college athletes to profit off their name, image, and likeness (NIL), small businesses are closing partnership deals with college athletes. Should nonprofits follow suit?
2. Does your nonprofit have a Twitter handle? ✅ Ok, here's your strategy. Stop asking for money. Stop trying to get people to click a link to your blog post. Instead, "Talk directly to your biggest fans and just have fun with them."
