Newsletter: Join Me for a February Meetup in Tampa 🏖 ; Nothing Can Stop Cause Marketing in Holland 💦; Does Your Nonprofit Really Need a Gala? 🥳
I'm super excited to be joining the Southeast Produce Council and its 2,500 members at Southern Exposure, their annual conference next month in Tampa, Florida. What a great time to escape the cold of Boston's winter! 🧊❄️🥶
I've already found several examples of cause marketing programs, like the one above, between Sunrays Citrus and Save the Children. But I would love to learn about YOUR campaigns with produce providers, suppliers, retailers and consumers. Send them my way. You could be featured in a big way in front of an important audience!

☀️Tampa Meetup 🏖If you work in corporate partnerships in the Tampa Bay Area, I'd love to plan a meetup on Friday afternoon (February 28th) following my presentation. My flight isn't until later that night and I'll have some time to hang out and talk all things corporate partnership! Just hit reply to this email and let me know and we'll plan a meeting spot.
✍️ Partnership Notes
1. Cause marketing is growing in the Netherlands thanks to the work of Jori Paschold of Janje Beton, a nonprofit that encourages kids to never stop playing. Jori's organization has partnered with Intertoy, the country's largest toy store chain, to ask consumers to donate 50 cents at the register. I've been talking to Jori for several months, but it was point-of-sale ninja 💥Clark Sweat at Children's Miracle Network who generously guided Jori in developing a POS program. Very kind of you, Clark. And good luck, Jori!
2. At 1pm TODAY, DipJar, AmFund and I will be talking fundraising events and corporate sponsorship! It's FREE. Register here.
3. As a follow-up to last week's question on developing corporate guidelines, Brittany Hill at Accelerist shared her checklist. Thanks, Brittany! ⬇️
🤑 Marketing Your Cause
1. A key part to selling sponsorships for your fundraiser is knowing the audience your event attracts. Surveys are one way to learn about that audience. The Knight Foundation has published an excellent audience surveying toolkit for live events.
2. How to turn your competitors' media wins into success stories for your own organization. I love this strategy, but it does require some work. Well worth it though.
3. How to mine Reddit for content ideas for your organization. Is your organization using Reddit effectively - or 🤭- building an audience on it? I would love to hear from you!

🧠🍌 Brain Food
1. Hmm...does your nonprofit really need a gala? 🤔If you said yes, here's how to have a good one.
2. Research: Thank you calls to donors don't increase giving.
3. A glowing, crackling fire for a winter night - that will also remind you that the world is burning.🔥
